Roxanne is a full-time Special Education teacher with the Lafayette Parish School System. At 35, Roxanne decided to attend college as a first-time freshman in the pursuit of a teaching degree. In 2006, after graduating Cum Laude from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she obtained a teaching position within the Homebound department of LPSS. She currently teaches students in alternate settings who are unable to attend school due to illness or injury. Roxanne was awarded the Lafayette Education High School Teacher of the Year Award in 2017.
As a survivor of 27 years of domestic violence including psychological abuse, she feels the need to raise awareness of domestic violence within her community. Roxanne’s community involvement includes being a member of VOICES of Acadiana where she serves as the Education and Awareness Chair. When Roxanne has free time she enjoys reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
