Her professional career spans over 17 years including serving as a domestic violence client advocate, operating a shelter for homeless women and children, project director for an alcohol prevention program and principal of an alternative school. Her community involvement includes: member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Junior Achievement board member and volunteer, mentor and board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, Northside High Alumni volunteer.
Tonya is a graduate of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lafayette-Class XXV, a member of the Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission and is a national delegate for the Vision 2020 project of Drexel University She is married to Kirk R. Ball and they are the parents of two children, Trevor and Kennedi.
